Hi! How do I export all revenues and expenses by client for each month for the full year? I know I can pull a P&L by client and see all my clients in the different columns but I would like to export ALL months, or all years (separated by date)

The Idea here would be to have the data to filter on Excel and create a Client P&L MoM for each client

Welcome to the Community space, @Julia Schwan.

I'm here to lend a hand in running reports in QuickBooks Online.

When pulling up the Profit and Loss by Customer report, it will show your income, expenses, and net income (profit or loss) by a customer in which the option to export all months separated by date isn't an option. As a workaround, what you can do is to export the data monthly via excel. From there, you can combine all the data and make the report you need.

I know the benefits of having this feature would be helpful in the system. Your input and insights about the products’ features will guide us on how to make the program works best for your business.

Hi There,

Thank you for your response. However, I would like to avoid having to download each month separately, since I would be doing this for many months...

Alternatively, is there a report (in any format) that would provide me a data dump of all expenses (including the GL account), revenues, and have both the client and "name" columns. I ask because on a journal entry, I use the name section to tag my clients. If there is a report like this, I would be able to filter the data I want.

The file would look like this:

Columns: GL account / Date / Name / Client / Division / amount

Thank you,

Julia

Hi There,

Thank you for your response.

I would like to avoid downloading each month separately. That would also be complicated to sort data.

Is there any report that would give me a data dum of all expenses and revenues (with the GL account) and in the columns both: clients and Name? I ask because some of my Journal entries use the field "name" for clients separation.

I am looking for a report with the following columns:

Date / Name / Client / Amount / Division / GL account (in all lines of the export and not only in the totals)

Thank you

Thanks for getting back to this thread, Julia.

Currently, that kind of report is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. The Profit and Loss report provides a view of your income, expenses, and net income by individual transactions. However, it doesn't contain the Client and GL account column.

You'll want to consider exporting both General Ledger and Profit and Loss By Detail report to an Excel file. This way, you'll be able to combine and customize them according to your business preferences. Here's how to export the report:

  1. Select Reports from the sidebar menu.
  2. Enter "General Ledger" or "Profit and Loss By Detail" in the search bar.
  3. Set the appropriate reporting period, then click the Run report button.
  4. Select the Export icon, then choose Export to Excel.

I also encourage running these popular custom reports in QuickBooks Online to get awesome insights about your business.
