Buy nowI am new to QBO, and have accidentally created some accounts in the chart of accounts that are approximate duplicates of accounts that are present in the default list. I tried merging them, but they still appear in the list of inactive accounts. I cannot get rid of them! I see that others have the same complaint. Please fix this!

I certainly understand how challenging it can be to deal with a cluttered inactive list right as you're getting started. QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't allow you to completely delete accounts, even if they are inactive with no transactions, to preserve data integrity.
While the inactive accounts can't be removed, you can filter your Chart of Accounts to display only active accounts. Here's how:
