How do I change my business code (NAICA) in QB Self Employed or TurboTax for my 2025 submission?

I have tried the recommendations in Help and those proveded by the virtual assistant. None of the fields are editable. Can I just update my Schedule C?

How do I change my business code (NAICA) in QB Self Employed or TurboTax for my 2025 submission?

Hello there, Tedd. We cannot directly update the business code within QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). QuickBooks Self-Employed locks the profile to ensure data consistency.

Even if you use QuickBooks to track your finances, the NAICS (business code) submitted to the IRS will be finalized in TurboTax. Since the field is locked, we can reach out to TurboTax Support to have your business code manually updated.

Also, we're unable to edit the Schedule C form directly in QBSE because it is a report generated by your data, not a filing document. However, we can go to your Transactions tab and re-categorize the individual transactions. Once you change a category (e.g., from "Personal" to "Office Supplies"), the Schedule C preview will update automatically.
