How do I convert a QBX? I don't have a toggle version switch.

I've got QB Desktop Pro 2019.  I'm an auditor and been given the clients books as a QBX file.  I'm trying to open it to conduct my work but I can't.  When I go to the FILE, I have no "toggle versions" button at all.  When I click the button Open or Restore an Existing Company, I don't get the option to covert.

Can someone help?  Do I need a different version?  Best I can tell is that the client file is from QB2017.  But no idea which version.  Thanks in advance!!

Hi there, @bwilson9.

Thanks for reaching out to us. I have some information about converting the QBX file. The QBX file is an extension file if you're creating an accountant's copy. That said, the ability to convert it into a working file (.QBA) or a regular company file is only possible in QuickBooks Desktop Accountant editions.

You can refer to this article for your guide: Use the Accountant's Copy.

Feel free to also check out our website for more information about QuickBooks Desktop Accountant edition: QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

I'll be around if you still have questions or concerns with the QBX file, don't hesitate to reply. Take care and have a nice day ahead.

@bwilson9

Which QB Desktop year version is you client using? If they are using QBD 2019, you may purchase a one time license of QBD 2019 or 2020 Accountant edition to restore that QBX file.
