Welcome to the Community,  Ar-carden.

To enter your business's cash on hand in QuickBooks Online, ensure that the Account name is not already in use. To resolve this issue, you can try using a different name.

Before we proceed, could you please provide the error message you received? It can help us identify and address it efficiently.

Here's how to enter a new cash on hand in QBO:

  1. Go back to the Chart of accounts.
  2. Tick the New account.
  3. Enter the New petty cash name in the Account name field.
  4. From the Account Type dropdown, select Bank.
  5. In the Detail Type dropdown, pick Cash on hand.
  6. Then click Save.

For more detailed information on how to set up and use petty cash on QuickBooks Online, refer to this article: Set up and use petty cash in QuickBooks Online.

Before we finish, I suggest you explore QuickBooks Live Expert Assisted to streamline your accounting, maintain precise financial records, and access professional support. This could free up valuable time, allowing you to concentrate on expanding your business.
