How do I get around " Unexpected token < in JSON at position 0"

Let's get rid of the error so you can continue working with your account, john221.

JSON error usually occurs if the connection between your account and the program's server is interrupted. This can happen to any apps or websites, not just QuickBooks Online. Here are some some possible factors that can interrupt the connection:

  • piled-up cache cache on the browser or app.
  • internet connection is not stable.
  • program's server has an issue.

Cache helps your browser or device's background processes run smoothly. However, it can also cause unexpected results when piled up. Here's how to get rid of any cache-related concerns:

  1. Open a private browser and log in to your account. It uses but doesn't store cache.
  2. If you error is removed successfully,  we can go back to your regular browser and clear the cache.
  3. Other supported browsers are good alternatives, too. Each of them uses a different cache.

Then, always establish a stable internet connection to avoid this error to occur again. If the same thing happens, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They can review your account and provide additional troubleshooting steps to fix it.
