how do I get QB to make a W2C for 2025?

I noticed an omission on 3 employees on their w2 and it is too late to correct via simple edit. What steps do I need to have QB provide a W2C?

Hi, michael103.

You have two options to correct your employees’ W-2s in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll.

First, if you'd like us to handle the corrections for the W-2s of your three employees, you can reach out to our Live Payroll Support team to request assistance with creating W-2Cs. They have the appropriate tools and access to process the correction and generate the forms on your behalf.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help (?) icon.
  2. In the Search tab, click Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern (e.g., W-2 correction request).
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Choose how you would like to connect with us.

Check out their available support hours to ensure timely assistance.

Alternatively, if you'd prefer to handle the corrections yourself, you can use your payroll reports in QuickBooks to manually complete the W-2C forms. After that, create and submit a W-2C form to the SSA by following the General Instructions for Forms W-2Cs, which can be found in the General Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3.

You can check out this article for more details about both options and the correction process: Fix an incorrect W-2 and W-3.

Feel free to add a reply below if you have further concerns.

QuickBooks Online Payroll doesn't have W2C forms? Wow!  Desktop, the real QuickBooks, has had them for something like 20 years!
