How do I stop a memo from recurring on my deposit register?

I'll walk you through stopping a recurring memo on your deposit register by following the steps below:

 

  1. Go to Lists menu.
  2. Select Memorized Transaction Lists.
  3. Choose the transaction you want to stop.
  4. Click Memorized Transaction at the bottom, and select Edit Memorized Transaction.
  5. Click Do Not Remind Me radio button.
  6. Then, click OK.

How do I stop a memo from recurring on my deposit register?

Your fix did not work.  We do not have memorized transactions.  when I put a transaction into the ledger, it remembers a previous transaction that has the same old memo from years ago.   Just want it to stop pulling up old memos.

There's a setting in QuickBooks Desktop to auto-fill some fields based on the previous transaction. Here's how to unable this option:

 

  1. Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  2. On the pop-up, select General.
  3. Under My Preferences, remove the check on the Automatically remember account or transaction information.
  4. Click OK.

Once done, let's create a new transaction on your register. The Memo field should now be empty.

 

You can also remove the Memo field. On the register window, check the 1-Line tick-box at the bottom.
