How do I track the number of gallons of fuel used

Allow me to help you achieve your goal today. To track the number of gallons of fuel from each of your trucks, we'll need to create a category to put it into.

Here's how to perform this:

1. Click the +New icon.
2. In the Vendors option, select Expense.
3. Add your Payee and other necessary information.
4. In the Category details, click the first column under Category then select Add new.
5. A prompt will show the Account details, fill in the Account Type, Detail Type, Name: Gallons of fuel, and Description. Then, hit Save.
6. Afterward, in the Description section enter how many gallons of fuel are used then enter the Amount.
7. In the Memo section add the number of gallons to show it in the transaction list report.
8. Review the transaction then click Save and close.

If you want to show the number of gallons used in your Profit and Loss report then it isn't possible in QuickBooks Online because this report contains the overall amounts only. 

You can, however, run the Transaction Detail by Account report and then customize it to a specific category to check for the count of gallons used for each truck.
