Buy nowI have a class set up for each truck but how do I track the number of gallons used by each truck and be able to show it on the profit and loss. My boss thought I could set this up as inventory but I dont think so. There has got to be a way
Welcome to the Community space, @jsnas12106.
Allow me to help you achieve your goal today. To track the number of gallons of fuel from each of your trucks, we'll need to create a category to put it into.
Here's how to perform this:
If you want to show the number of gallons used in your Profit and Loss report then it isn't possible in QuickBooks Online because this report contains the overall amounts only.
You can, however, run the Transaction Detail by Account report and then customize it to a specific category to check for the count of gallons used for each truck.
Check out the guides here if you need help with your product inventory: Set up and track your inventory in QuickBooks Online.
You can always route back here if you need additional assistance with tracking your product used. I'll be happy to lend a hand. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of the day
So would I set this up as an expense?
Hey there again, @jsnas12106.
I appreciate you coming back and asking more questions.
With the question your asking, I recommend consulting with your accountant to be sure about it. They'll be able to give you the best advice based on how your business is ran.
Keep us updated on how the conversation goes with your accountant. We're always here to have your back. Bye for now!
