Welcome to the QuickBooks Comunity, kmilsap67.
Let me provide details of the 1099 filing time in QuickBooks Online to ensure that you can manage the tax form efficiently.
1099s are due to the IRS and your contractors by January 31. However, we recommend you e-file before January 28 at 5:00 PM PT. This is to make sure the tax form can be postmarked to your contractors by January 31. You can e-file 1099s through January 31 to be on time with the IRS.
Additionally, the tax filing due dates are different for each of the 1099 forms. With this, the NEC due date is January 31 and the MISC due date is March 31 if you file electronically.
Then, the E-file is open until April 30. While you can still e-file the form, this will still be considered late by the IRS. If this happens, I recommend contacting them so they may assess the fees.
