How to apply 2nd user license for my quickbook premiere

Hi everyone,

 

So I bought and received a key 1 from Costco for Intuit QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2021, English Version- Digital Download, and installed it on my desktop. Now I was wondering how to have a quick book premiere for the laptop now. I didn't receive key 2 and I tried key 1 again on the laptop but didn't work. it does say it is a 2-user license and I am just wondering if I am missing something here? or should I contact Costco for 2nd key.

 

I am very new at the program and any advice would be great thank you.

To access your file anywhere on the go, we need a hosting server where we'll store the file so you can open it even if you're miles away from the other location.

 

Not to worry, Intuit offers a hosting service where you can open your company file remotely using an internet browser or remote desktop connection. You can also check other authorized hosting providers.

 

To clear your confusion between single-user mode and multi-user mode, you can check out the features available and the tasks you can perform. This way, you can determine the task you can complete if you're using either of the two.

I have some information about installing QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) on your laptop. You'll want to set up a multi-user network so you'll be able to download QBDT onto your laptop. Let me guide you how.

 

  1. Set up one computer to hosts your company files. In your case, could be your Desktop.
  2. If you haven't selected the Custom and Network install for the install type. You can uninstall and re-install the program to select this type.
  3. Choose I'll be using QuickBooks Desktop on this computer, AND I'll be storing... if you want the full version of QuickBooks Desktop on your server computer. If you just want your server computer to host your files, select I will NOT be using QuickBooks Desktop on this computer...
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the install.
  5. Next, set up folder permissions on your server computer. Make sure the folder with your company files has permission to be on your network.
  6. Ensure QuickBooks Database Server Manager is installed. This tool lets you share your company files with other computers over your network.
  7. Check the user account you use to sign in to your server computer has Windows admin rights.
  8. Then, follow the steps and use them to scan the folder that holds your company files.
  9. Lastly, turn on hosting. Here's how:
    1. In QuickBooks Desktop, go to the File menu and hover over Utilities.
    2. Select Host Multi-User Access. Then select Yes to confirm.

Once you're done, install QBDT on your laptop.

Hi,

 

Thank you for a quick response, I really appreciate the help and now I have another question. So now that I have set up the users (from a company under set up users and passwords) and kinda have a hosted server (shown in picture). I was wondering what would happen if I were to bring my laptop to another workplace out of my office for future travel. Do I need to have the desktop running 24/7 while I am out? I am also confused over single-user mode and multiuser mode circled. Does this matter or affect the functions of QuickBooks?
