Let us guide you on how to download the state-wise invoice data from QuickBooks Online (QBO), info2229.
If you're trying to download a list of sales invoices by state, then there's no single report in the program that directly provides a "sales by state" report. However, we can get this data by using the Sales by Location Detail report. Before we start, let's make sure the Track Location setting is turned on (this feature is only available for Plus and Advanced versions) to ensure you're able to track your transactions by state in your report.
Also, this enables you to specify the location every time you create a transaction, like an invoice, sales receipt, etc. If you haven't already, follow the steps below:
- Go to the Gear icon on the top menu and choose Account and settings.
- Tap Advanced.
- Pick the Edit ✎ icon in the Categories section.
- Select the checkbox to track locations.
- Hit Save, then Done.

Then, add the location you want to track and reflect in your report. Here's how:
- Let's go again to the Gear icon on the top menu and click All lists.
- Select Locations.
- Tap New, then add the Name of the location you want to track.
- Hit Save and Close to confirm the action.
Please read through this article for more information about the steps provided above: Set up and use location tracking.
Once done, you're all set to run the Sales by Location Detail report. Here's how:
- Go to the Reports menu in the left pane and choose Standard reports.
- Look for and type Sales by Location Detail in the search box.
- Pick a date in the Report period.
- Click the Accounting method drop-down and select your method.
- Tap the Group by tab and choose
- Hit Run report to display the desired info for this report.

You'll also want to personalize the format for your reports by following the steps in this article: Customize reports.
