how to link a deposit to or project add the deposit

Managing your project transactions effectively is essential, and I’m here to make that process possible for you, @abmen. We can handle this depending on the type of deposit you’re working with, whether it’s related to an invoice, an upfront payment, or a bank transaction. Let me break it down for you.

If you’re receiving a payment for an invoice, please ensure that it is assigned to the project (using the Project feature when creating the transaction). Once the amount is received, we can then record a Bank deposit as follows:

  1. Go to the + New, then Bank Deposit.
  2. Pick the bank account where you want the payment to be deposited.
  3. In the RECEIVED FROM column, select the invoice/payment.
  4. Once done, click Save and close.

For deposits that are not tied to an invoice, you'll want to categorize the transaction to a specific account and link it to a project in the Add funds to this deposit section of the Bank deposit form.

  1. In the Bank deposit page, hover over the  Add funds to this deposit section.
  2. From the Received From dropdown, select the project from which the deposit came.
  3. Complete other necessary details.
  4. Hit Save and close.

If the deposit comes through the Bank transactions page, we can assign a project to the transaction while categorizing it. You would select the appropriate project name in the Vendor/Customer/project dropdown field to ensure it is properly associated.

In cases where the deposit corresponds to an invoice payment already logged in QuickBooks, use the Match option. This will automatically connect the deposit to the project assigned in the original transaction.
