How to use price rules with Estimates

We set up some price rules to discount items for certain customers by 5%, 10%, etc.  The price rule appear to apply correctly for Sales Orders and Invoices, but they don't appear to apply to Estimates.  Is there a way to have the price rules apply to Estimates so we can quote job estimates with the proper discounts?

How to use price rules with Estimates

You've reached the right place, @BernieJ.

Let's get this sorted out. I'll be glad to help you apply Price Rules on your Estimates so you can send out quotes to your customers.

Here's how to create Price Rules in QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Go to the List menu.
  2. Choose the Price Rule List.
  3. Select the Price Rule button and click New.
  4. Fill in the necessary information. You can add the Customer Name and Item Name that you want to apply the rules for.
  5. Click Ok to save changes.

You can check out this article to learn more about Price Rules in QuickBooks Desktop: Use Advanced Pricing.

Once finished, you can now apply it to your estimates. Here's how:

  1. Select the Customers menu.
  2. Click Create Estimates.
  3. Apply the items you use when you set up the price rules.
  4. From the Cost table, select the icon.
  5. An Applied Price Rules window will pop-up and then click OK to apply the rule.

Additionally, you'll want to personalize forms templates in QuickBooks Desktop: Use and customize form templates.

Please know that I'm always here to help you further if you have more questions. Just add a comment or mention my name. Wishing you all the best.
