I closed an online credit card account before I downloaded the closing balance. Can I manually set the online balance to zero?

Quickbooks is showing an online balance of $40 dollars. The actual balance is zero and my registery shows zero but the $40 is still showing as the online balance.

QuickBooks doesn’t directly allow users to edit the online balance, as this data comes directly from the credit card’s actual balance, @hdj0727.

Since this doesn’t reflect the actual balance, I recommend contacting our Live Support team to review this further and remove it for you.

Here’s how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online:
    • The customer should log in to their QuickBooks Online account at
  2. Navigate to the Help Option:
    • In the lower-right corner of the QuickBooks Online dashboard, the Help (?) is located. Click the icon.
  3. Search or Get Help:
    • A help menu will appear. Customers can:
      • Type their question in the search bar to find relevant articles and resources, OR
      • Scroll down and select Contact Us to proceed to live support.
  4. Describe the Issue:
    • Type a brief description of the issue into the field (e.g., “Online Balance won’t update to zero after closing account”).
    • Click Let’s Talk to start the process.
  5. Choose How to Contact Support:
    • Chat with Us: Start a live chat session with a QuickBooks agent.
    • Call Us: Request a callback or dial the support number provided.
  6. Follow up Once the Support Agent Connects:
    • Ensure all information about the issue has been communicated clearly, and follow the instructions provided by the agent.
