I HATE the 1099 process -! I cannot do my 1099s like I did last year!!! I just want to key in the amounts and print the 1099 and mail them like I did last year for 2020!

I do not want any connection with QB to do my 1099s!!! I want to do them like I did last year-key in amount and print! How hard is that?

Hi vimclinic2149,

I know it is more convenient to enter amounts. However, that process is prone to errors, and that’s why we can’t do manual inputs on 1099 forms anymore.

In QuickBooks, you only need to follow the process for creating1099 forms, and you can print and mail or E-file.

About amounts, you only need to be sure that you track your contractors' transactions correctly; correct dates, amounts, and accounts. Then, you'll want to map the accounts appropriately, and QuickBooks will fill in the forms based on these details.

Which section are you having challenges in? We can help you from here.

On the other hand, I also recognize the fact that you create forms for your business, so having the option to enter amounts at your discretion could be better for you. Feel free to submit feedback by going to the Gear icon and choosing Feedback.

That's Blue Sky.

Intuit lets the user edit almost every one of the 300 or so payroll forms included in QuickBooks. If manually fixing numbers to be correct on 300 payroll forms is good, then why is bad for this one little 1099 form? (It's not.)

And in any case, most of the data in the QuickBooks file is manually entered. So any results seen on the 1099 are, apparently, already "prone to errors", right? Maybe users shouldn't be able to enter or fix anything in QuickBooks.  That way, they won't make any mistakes.

Oh, also, there's TurboTax. It has just a whole oodles of tax forms. And you can manually enter amounts and then edit numbers most all of them. Weird, huh?
