We use lots of assembly items. We buy in bulk then repackage into retail bags in ounces. New item I import with an Import Tool, but ran into a small problem for which I need some feedback.
Here is an example
The importer imports all the fields but NOT the field I highlighted in red. After my U/M set has multiple entries, various kilo to ounce conversions, I am wondering if the missing value is causing any issues when using the item in a sales receipt, invoice or inventory transaction.
After I saw that the importer does not populate the field I normally add it manually, but when importing a larger number of new inventory assemblies I wanted to avoid this manual step.
The parent item 100129 is using U/M Set "Weight:oz".
Does anybody know if this value is required (I can save the item without getting an error message) or cause any issues further down the line? I don't want to risk having any problems with my bulk or retail inventory.
Hi there, @gerdgoebel!
Before we can accomplish your goal for today, may I ask for a few clarifications about your initial inquiry? Saying you need help with importing your inventory items, what are the fields you're having problem with and what is the tool you used to import them?
You may wonder why I'm asking these questions because I'm unable to view the screenshot you shared. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care and stay safe!
Thanks for getting back here and for sharing the screenshot once again, gerdgoebel. I'd be glad to share details to answer your inventory-related questions.
UM or unit of measure is not a required field. This is the reason why you're still able to import your items even if you did not put in any value under the UM field.
The same goes when creating sales transactions. You are not required to enter a value in the UM column. You can also check out these articles that provide additional details about this feature:
For additional references about tracking inventories, I will also be sharing these articles with you:
Don't hesitate to always ask questions if you still need more help with this. I'd be glad to jump right back and help you again.
Thank you this detailed article about single and multiple U/M set. After it is rather lengthy I need some time to study it.
