I have an INVOICE that was PAID in DEC-2025. I did not update QB until JAN-2026. I need to correct this PAYMENT DATE from JAN-2026 to DEC-2025. How do I do that?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, matthew. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, you can't change the payment date once an invoice has been marked as paid. To fix this, you need to mark it as unpaid and then re-mark it with the correct date.

Here’s how:

  1. On the left side of your screen, click Get Paid and then select Invoices.
  2. Locate and open the invoice that was marked as paid in January 2026.
  3. In the dropdown menu, select Mark as unpaid.
  4. Then click Record payment.
  5. When prompted, manually input the correct payment date as December 2025.
  6. Hit Save.
