Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, matthew. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, you can't change the payment date once an invoice has been marked as paid. To fix this, you need to mark it as unpaid and then re-mark it with the correct date.
Here’s how:
- On the left side of your screen, click Get Paid and then select Invoices.
- Locate and open the invoice that was marked as paid in January 2026.
- In the dropdown menu, select Mark as unpaid.
- Then click Record payment.
- When prompted, manually input the correct payment date as December 2025.
- Hit Save.
