I have employees that are on call for 24 hours. How do I enter this 24hr long shift into the schedule?

I have multiple 24 hr shifts I need to setup in the QuickBooks Schedule.  As an example, one shift goes from 8:30am on Sunday to 8:30 am on Monday.  When you enter both times as 8:30 it thinks you mean on the same day.  How can I make these 24 hrs shifts in the schedule?

Hi there, seconaway.

I appreciate you for coming back to the thread and adding more clarifications about your concern. With this, I'll be sharing alternative methods to ensure you can enter the same 24-hour shifts in the schedule.

Putting or entering the same time on the Schedule section, such as 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. the next day, is not currently unavailable. This is due to the fact that our program will not recognize the same time details to ensure your employee's details are accurately recorded

For now, I recommend selecting 8:30 am as the start time and 8:29 as the end time as a workaround. This way, the options to click Publish and Save Draft are no longer grayed out. Additionally, you also have the option to choose 8:30 am to 8:00 am and the remaining 30 minutes will be applied to the next scheduled time. Then, the work time will still fall with the specific employee.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to view steps on how you can view and edit time entries: Track and manage QuickBooks Time in QuickBooks Online.

I have employees that are on call for 24 hours. How do I enter this 24hr long shift into the schedule?

Hi there, @seconaway. I've got your back, and I'm here to ensure you can set up a 24hr shift in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

There are two ways to schedule a 24hr shift in your account. You can either use QBO's time tracking feature or a QuickBooks Time account for more time tracking features. I'll input the steps below so you can proceed to set up a shift in your QBO account. If you want to use the built-in time tracking feature, here's how:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, go to the Get paid & pay tab and then select Time.
  3. If you're new to this, click the Launch QuickBooks Time button to access the time tracking feature.
  4. Go to the Schedule tab, then select an employee that you'd like to set a 24hr shift.
  5. Choose a day and then click on it to input the shift.
  6. Select an employee and then fill in the Title section, Start Date, Start Time and End Time.
  7. Once done, click Publish.

Please be aware that the feature is only available for QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Advanced.  You can refer on the screenshot below for visual reference.

For more information about this, you can visit this article: Turn on and set up time tracking in QuickBooks Online.

After you've set the schedule, proceed to create an invoice to check if you can add the hours as billable. You can refer to this article for more information about adding billable expenses to invoices: Enter billable expenses.

In addition, I've got you this article to help you track and manage your timesheets in your QBO account: Track and manage QuickBooks Time in QuickBooks Online.

This does not work for me.  When I put 8:30am to 8:30 am the "Publish" and "Save Draft" are grayed out.  How do I tell the system I mean 8:30 am the next day?  Please see the screenshot I have uploaded.  Thank you.
