I upgraded from QB2017 to QB2020. I restored two companies with no problems but the third company states that something is wrong with upgrading your credentials, please log in again to continue. How do I fixed this problem?

Hello, @CC50.

Let's troubleshoot the issue so you can upgrade your credentials in QuickBooks Desktop.

Errors related to new installations are usually caused by damaged QuickBooks components. We can run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to fix this error.

Here's how:

  1. Close the QuickBooks software.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Run the QuickBooksToolHub.exe file.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Once installed, open the tool hub by clicking the icon twice.

Note: If you can't find the icon, do a search in Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub and select the program.

Next step is to run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool.

Here's how:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. In the tool hub, select Installation Issues.
  3. Select QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool.
  4. When the tool finishes, restart your computer to make sure the components are properly updated.

If you get the same error, you can proceed to Step 3 to 5 of this article. This also provides additional troubleshooting options for specific installation errors: Fix QuickBooks Desktop install errors.
