Greetings, @Anonymous.

You can pull up and customize your Transaction List by Customer report. And you can also check your recurring transactions. Let me add some insights about this and help you further.

Pulling up your transaction list allows you to view all transactions for a specific customer. This way, you can also make sure that they no longer have existing transactions.

Here’s how you can pull up and customize your report:

  1. Click on Reports from the menu bar.
  2. Choose Customers & Receivables.
  3. Select Transaction List by Customer.
  4. Click on Customize Report.
  5. From the Dates drop-down, choose All.
  6. Click on the Filters tab.
  7. Choose Name from the Filter box.
  8. Select the customer name from the drop-down.
  9. Click on OK to apply the filters.

Also, it’s possible that your customer has existing recurring transactions. You’ll also need to delete them.

Once done, you can open each existing transaction and delete them. Then, you can delete the customer.

You can always tag me in your comment if you have any other questions or concerns. I’ll be happy to help.

The message is not adequate to describe the case. This could mean a lot of things. For example, the name might be used on a memorized report or in time records. You can usually merge two customers together. Try renaming the offending customer so that it exactly matches the customer you want to keep. When you save, QB will usually prompt you and ask you if you want to merge the names. If is does, answer yes.
