Join nowI work for a small non profit. We currently use QuickBooks pro 2021. We also admin two other small non profits that only have a board and no staff. I have to open an old QuickBooks 2014 file to look at the donors. How can I do that and not mess up my current company files? I just need to look at the old data and produce a report.

Well you probably can not do that unless you still have 2014-2017 installed. Intuit stops support after 3 years of the old desktop system, and while any version from the above years will open and show the data file, (and sometimes 2018) anything newer will not.
The old file has to be stepped up, open it in a newer year, make a back up, restore the back up file and open it in a newer year until you do that in 2021.
Call around if you need to do the back up/restore thing with intervening years, many pro advisors have multiple years installed and may help you out

I still have the old computer in storage. I'll just have to go grab it and hook it up.
Thank you for the assist. I just can't afford to spend more money on this issue at all.
Thank you.
As another option, install the trial license for QBD 2019 to upgrade your file and generate reports.
