If partial payments are made where are they held

Hi there, Beatty.

Allow me to assist you in locating where partial payments go.

Before we proceed, may I ask which QuickBooks product you are using? Each product has a unique method for locating partial payments, which will help us provide the most accurate guidance.

If you’re using QuickBooks Online, partial payments can be found in the Receive Payments option within the specific invoice your customer has partially paid.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to All apps, then select Sales and Get Paid.
  2. Click Invoices, then locate which invoices were partially paid.
  3. In the Action column, select View/Edit.
  4. Under Manage, click the Status dropdown and select View Payment under Payment Received.

From there, you can see where the partial payment has been deposited.

However, if you are using QuickBooks Solopreneur and have manually recorded partial payments, you can find where these payments have been deposited in the Transaction field. Start by navigating to the invoices with a status of Partially Paid. Select View/Edit, then scroll down and click on the Payment on associated with the partial payment made under the Invoice total. This will direct you to the transaction detail where you can see where it has been deposited.

On the other hand, if you are using QuickBooks Payments and your customer pays through it, the funds are deposited into the bank account linked to your QuickBooks Payments account.

If you still need further assistance, you can always return here. We are always here to help.
