IFF budget export uses Calendar year not Fiscal year?

I am using QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019 and when I export the budget to IFF the start dates are all calendar year start dates, not the fiscal year start dates that my company uses (In "My Company" we are set up as July to June).

Can I just change the start date to 7/1/2019 for the IFF import?

If not do I then have to import two calendar years of budgets?  1/1/19 start date with 6 months of previous fiscal year budget and 6 months of the new budget and then  1/1/20 start date with six months of the new budget and 6 months blank.

Thanks,

Jeremiah

Re: IFF budget export uses Calendar year not Fiscal year?

Hello there, @JeremiahNC.

I'm here to help provide some details about exporting budget report using the Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) in QuickBooks Desktop.

I've replicated this on my QuickBooks sample file, and I was able to export/import budget report for a fiscal year successfully. Let's make sure that your company report information is set up to the correct date to ensure all the budget reports will export to IFF through the fiscal year.

Here's how:

  1. At the top menu bar, select Company.
  2. Go to My Company.
  3. Click Company Information pencil-icon.
  4. Select Report Information.
  5. Select the month for Fiscal YearCapture.PNG
  6. Click OK.

Once done, you can now try to export or import Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) files for budget reports.

If the same thing happens, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. They have additional tools to do a remote session and investigate this further.

Here's how to contact our customer support:

  1. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu.
  2. You can also press F1 on your keyboard to bring up the same Help Panel.
  3. In order to route you to the correct support expert, we need to know what type of question you have.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. We’ll provide you a few options. You choose which one is best for you.

Re: IFF budget export uses Calendar year not Fiscal year?

Thank you for the help.

I will reach out to customer support to address this as My Company information is already set to a July starting month for the fiscal year, but the budget exports still are coming out as a calendar year.

Re: IFF budget export uses Calendar year not Fiscal year?

Thanks for getting back to us, Jeremiah.

I appreciate you verifying your fiscal year's starting month in your My Company Information window.

Since the same issue still persists on the IIF file, you can export the Budget report to Excel as an alternative method. This way, you'll still get the information you need in the report within your fiscal year. For more information, you can visit this article: Create A Budget

Yes, I'd also suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop Customer Care Team. They can review this issue and provide additional steps to help fix it. You can follow the steps that my peer provided above on how to contact them.

This will get you in the right direction, Jeremiah.

Feel free to let me know if you have other concerns. I'm always here to help.

Thanks,

Raymond
