Hello!

It seems that with 2018 QB Desktop, we are able to choose CSV file at importing IFF, however newer version can't upload journal entry with CSV file. Please let us know, thanks.

Hey there JhoannaG. Currently there is no way to upload a CSV with General Journal Entries. However, you can create an IIF file though.

Here's a great article on importing IIF files. It goes over everything you need to know. The IIF files may still be edited in excel similar to a CSV, the difference is in the stability of the import process. Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi. Is there any way I can gain access to the exact specifications of the IIF file to import large recurring general journals. For instance I do see a copy of a sample IIF general journal entry but not the specs associated like you would procure in a large ascii file from a system which depicts the actual file layout rules. Thanks.

Hi aborrelli1,

Currently, QuickBooks Desktop only has import kits to serve as a reference when importing transactions. I'll pass this along to our product team to let them know of your business needs.

Here's an article for more information: IIF Overview: Import Kit, Sample Files, and Headers.

For future reference, you can also check out this article for other tasks that IIF files can do: Tasks You Can Do With IIF Files.

You can touch base with us if you need further assistance. I'll be here to help anytime.

Why is it that the Quick book product seems to make it as difficult as possible to do anything?  Are they sabotaging the desktop product , trying to drive users to online?  More revenue?
