Join nowHello,
I'm using QuickBooks for Mac 2019 and I'm trying to import bills and bill refunds via .iif file, but I keep getting error messages (my notes in red):
The name you selected is not unique among related items like customers, customer groups, vendors, etc. Please choose a unique name. I'm trying to import bills for vendors who already exist in the system.
Then a warning: One of the accounts on this transaction has been deleted. I'm not certain what this means as the account that I was importing was not deleted.
No transactions got transferred. Error on Line 6. I can't find the error. Line 6 in the file is just an ENDTRNS line; there's nothing else there that I can see. I did a check for blank spaces, but came up with nothing. Here's a link to my IIF file.
I used the bill template in the IIF_Import_Kit and all my headings seem to line up. Also, I was able to successfully import into QuickBooks for Desktop 2015 using this same .IIF file before trying to import into QuickBooks for Mac.

Hi there, nathan_mh.
QuickBooks verify and rebuild tools find the most common data issues in a company file and fixes them.
Here’s how:
Before you rebuild your company file, use the verify tool in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac to scan your company file for errors or data damage.
How to rebuild your company file data
Once you’ve verified your data, you can rebuild your company file to fix any errors or data damage that's found.
To make sure your file is free of errors or data damage, verify your company file again. If you still have errors or damage, rebuild the file again.
How to manually correct errors
If you’re comfortable fixing errors manually, you can see each error message listed in the Verify Results window along with the steps to fix it.
Before you get started, make sure to backup your company file.
Feel free to reach back out to me if I can be of more help. I'll make sure to get back to you as soon as I can. Have a great day.
After verified data an received message stating no error, but when went back to export, still encountered the same problem of " You can not record a negative deposit." I did this twice, no use at all. I have been using quickbook 2019 since 2 years ago, this is the first time having the problem.
Hello there, @rt99.
I can see that you have performed the verify and rebuild method, but it still doesn't work.
I'd suggest contacting our live customer care team. With the tools they have, they'll be more efficient in investigating the cause of this error.
You should be able to open the file in no time after that. They can also guide you to successfully export your company data file from QuickBooks Desktop Mac.
Here's how to contact them:
Also, here is the list of data that can and can't be converted from Windows to QBDT for Mac.
You can check this article for reference: Improved IIF Import in QuickBooks 2019 and later.
If you still need a hand in transferring your data to another platform, please don't hesitate to post again. It would be better to include the exact error you've encountered to sort it out on time. Take care and stay safe.
