Import Opening Inventory Listing

Hello,

I have the 2020 Enterprise Edition with Advanced Inventory turned on.   I'm trying to import my opening inventory data including quantity on hand.  I'm using the Add/Edit Multiple List Entries and the Qty On Hand is Greyed out.  Any thoughts as to why.  If I get past that point is it possible to import the materials which may have multiple bin locations per part or is there a way to do another upload to allocate to the correct bins?

Thanks!!

Import Opening Inventory Listing

Hello there, @WCP2.

Let's import your Inventory item to the sample file in QuickBooks Desktop.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Close Company.
  3. Click the open a sample file drop-down arrow.
  4. Hit the File.

Once you successfully import the inventory item using the sample file, you can run the QuickBooks built-in diagnostic and repair tools called to rebuild and verify data utilities. These tools comb through, repair, and notify you of data damage within the file.

Here's how:

  1. Go to File at the upper left, then pick Utilities and Rebuild Data on the drop-down.
  2. Choose OK. Follow the prompts to save a backup.
  3. Click OK when you see Rebuild has completed.
  4. Now, go back to File, then Utilities and select Verify Data this time.

For detailed steps, check out this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Post again if you have any other questions. I'm a few clicks away to help. Have a good day!

Import Opening Inventory Listing

Hi Grace,

I don't believe the issue is with the file I'm trying to import but rather with Quickbooks.  Even in the sample company the Qty on Hand is grayed out so the data I want to import won't.  After I imported the file to the company I'm trying to use I ran the Verify and Rebuild Data functions and everything was fine.

Thanks!
