Importing Multiple ship to addresses

I have QB Premier 2019 desktop and am using a 3rd party importing software to import all my customers who have multiple ship to addresses.  I have 1 customer in particular that has about 400 ship to addresses.  I have been able to import about 100 addresses and then QB won't let me import any more, it says "Error in      " but doesn't say where the error is.  Then Quickbooks closes and I have to restart QB.  I have been able to add other ship to imports so it can't be the import system.  But it does make me wonder if there is a limit to the number of ship to addresses I customer can have?  Is there a work around?

The only work around I can think of, is to set up 4 customers with about 100 addresses in each.  Any other thoughts?  Thanks, Wendi

Re: Importing Multiple ship to addresses

Hi there, Wendi.

The option to delete a closed invoice isn't a good idea. This might mess up your books.

Yes, you can use the Condense Data utility. This helps trim down your data file. You can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the File menu, select Utilities, then Condense Data.
  2. Select Keep all transactions, but remove audit trail info to date radio button. Please note that the system will advise you about the approximate reduction in your file.
  3. Select Next.

I'll be right here if you need more help.

Re: Importing Multiple ship to addresses

Hi there, Wendi Jo.

You can have up to 10,000 ship to addresses in QuickBooks Desktop. The following article will provide more information: Maximum number of list entries (list limits and custom fields).

It's possible that the third party software that you're using limits the importing process. In this case, I suggest contacting their Support Team to further check the app's configuration.

However, you may reach out to one of our Intuit Developers by visiting their website. From there, you can get an answer from one of the experts handling software integration, development, and other related concerns.

Here's how to get in contact with them: https://developer.intuit.com/app/developer/homepage.

Please let me know if you have any follow-ups or other questions. I'm always glad to help. Wishing you the best.

Re: Importing Multiple ship to addresses

Jane:  Since this one customer is going to take up a lot of space in QB, can I delete closed invoices and sales orders for this one customer through out the year, is this possible through condense data?  Will that work?  I'm still new to QB so I don't know how much data I will use or how it works. Thanks, Wendi
