We plan to upgrade our three-user networked version of QuickBooks 2016 to the current 2020 version. Are we forced to use the aging Internet Explorer 11 as our only web browser choice? As you may know, Microsoft itself it discontinuing IE in favor of the new Chromium-based Edge. Can either Edge or Google Chrome be used with QB Desktop Pro 2020?
Thanks.
John
Hi there, JN92.
Thanks for stopping by this afternoon. As of now, Internet Explorer (IE) is the recommended browser.
I see having the option to run QBDT from other browsers could benefit you and other users in running their business.
I'll let our product engineers know of your suggestion so they'll consider adding this in the future.
In the meantime, I recommend checking out our blog spot for future update information. If you have any other questions, feel free to post here anytime. Thank you and have a nice afternoon.
This does not answer the question given!
I am having a problem with QuickBooks desktop 2019 lately and my Fire Department bank account. It will not connect because this software needs IE11 and my bank account doesn't support it.
I see the online version of QuickBooks stopped supporting IE11 a year ago. Why haven't the software engineers discontinued requiring it with QuickBooks Desktop?
I need to know how I can connect to my bank otherwise!
Let me help connect your bank account to QuickBooks Desktop, @mmayer.
Currently, EI is the only supported web browser for QuickBooks Desktop. I recommend contacting your bank to know if there's another way of connecting your bank account into QuickBooks.
Alternatively, you'll want to consider manually importing your bank transactions via Web Connect.
There are two ways to import transactions via Web Connect:
Once finished, you can now start adding and matching transactions you downloaded into QuickBooks.
Let me know if you need further assistance in connecting your bank to QuickBooks. I'm here to fix your problem. Have a pleasant day.
Will this continue to be an issue?
If seamless importing doesn't work - I will change software before we get much further into the tax year. and put my $1200 somewhere else!
Huge selling point - SYNC with your bank......
I understand that your bank isn't supporting Internet Explorer, Gregpeggyw.
While QuickBooks Desktop is setting Internet Explorer as the default browser, you can download transactions using Web Connect.
Let me show you how:
Once you have the Web Connect file, follow the steps to import it into QuickBooks Desktop.
On the Banking Feeds page, you can add and match transactions with what's already entered in QuickBooks.
Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with today. I'll be right here to provide the information you need.
If your bank supports SlickConnect, utilize the trial period of it to isolate the issue.
