Intuit payroll hacked

Our payroll account appears to be hacked this morning. We received notice of a direct payment (we don't do direct payments to employees) for $13k to an employee we don't have. It's shown as pending in Bank of America and already put a stop payment and reported it as fraud. Anyone else had this happen? Any advice? Waiting for Intuit to open at 9am EST.

Intuit payroll hacked

Hello there, @prietolm.

The security of your information is the most relevant to us. We take this very sincerely here at QuickBooks and Intuit as a whole. I know that it's not easy if your business account was mangled. That's why I'm here to provide troubleshooting steps on how to report fraudulence.

Let's change first the password to make sure your account is protected, and people who previously have access won't be able to log in again.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your Intuit Account Manager using your QBO credentials.
  2. Choose Sign in and security on the left side.
  3. In the User ID, Email Address, or Password section, modify your information.
  4. Click Save.

For more details, visit this article: Change your email, user ID, or password for QuickBooks Online.

You can also check the Audit Log in your account to see what users have been making changes to your books and to address it with the user accordingly.

After that, I'd recommend reporting this to our Intuit Security team by sending an email at spoof@intuit.com or call our Customer Care Team. They can investigate your account and take further action about your subscription. I'll guide you how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Write your concern on the box, then click Let's talk
  3. Choose either Start a chat or Get a call.
  4. Complete the required information, then submit the request.

To ensure we address your concern quickly, check out first our support hours and types.

I've attached an article that helps you handling skeptical emails in QBO: How to recognize and report suspicious emails

Additionally, you can always open our help articles page. This page contains a lot of steps on how to handle your account.

Let me know if you have other questions by clicking the Reply button below. I'm always here to help.

YES!!!  I'm so upset!  QBO does NOT have firewalls that protect us!  They hacked into my email as well and changed my QBO password!!  I was on my email at the time they were sending themselves emails to verify the account!  They stole payroll last week and are trying to do the same as I type this.  I'm ready to quit using QBO.  It's NOT safe for us!  They won't help either.  They said it was on my end.  That's not correct.  I don't have any viruses and my computer scans have found no maleware.  I'm at my wits end.  Trying to run/own a company is hard enough without having to deal with scammers stealing your money and identity.  QBO/Intuit needs to step-up their security walls!!

Thank you for sharing. I have the exact same issue and out of $25000. Filed everything on time and intuit denied the claim saying “they don’t have authorization to return the transaction” response from risk was rude and completely blaming on us and our security. It’s a shame for such a large company to be so careless and to treat clients this negligent! Please update on your case.

Instead of giving useless advice you can stand behind your customers. I have spoken to my bank and when I filed the fraud claim within 24 hours they contacted you and you told them “you don’t have permission to return/stop the transaction”. Later blaming it on us and not willing to help at all!!!
