Inventory Items Bulk Purchase

I have several inventory items that allow a discount if purchased in bulk. In other words, if the customer buys a quantity of 1-49 price is $3.50, quantity of 50-99 price is $3.00, etc. I keep a large quantity in stock, so I need just one inventory item rather than trying to split in several because I don't want to skew COGS.

I need to be able to easily look up the inventory item and see the tiered costs if the customer asks, for instance, what we charge for an order of 200. What is the best way to enter the cost for each tier?

Inventory Items Bulk Purchase

Depending on your Desktop subscription, you can use advanced pricing, or you can create a discount line item to apply to your invoices.

For an Enterprise subscription, you can use the advanced pricing option, which will allow you to create rules that reflect changes to the prices of items. You can also offer quantity discounts, like you mentioned above, for 30 or more items in your inventory.

If you have a Pro/ Premier account, you can create a discount line item for the invoices. This will allow the discount to show up on the customer's invoices. The steps below will show you how:

  1. Navigate to the Lists menu and pick Item Lists.
  2. In the window, select Item and New.
  3. Choose the type of item you want to create and fill in the item fields.
  4. (optional) Press Custom Fields to add customized fields.
  5. Hit Save.

Now you have a discount to apply to your invoices. You may find this article helpful in the Pro/Premier process: Add, edit, and delete items.
