inventory

I have a client that uses desktop enterprise. They are an engineering company that customizes machines to a customer specific need. They currently use assemblies and sub-assemblies which then go into the finish good. Currently they are not assembling the assemblies or sub-assemblies to the finish good (as they should) and currently enter inventory parts and inventory assemblies as follows

Inventory part-

COGS Account-COGS

Sales account-Sales

Asset account-Inventory Asset-Raw Materials

Inventory Assemblies

COGS Account-COGS

Income Account-Sales
Asset Account-Inventory Asset-WIP

Is this correct. Is there a way to use desktop enterprise without assembling jobs for a company that customizes to a specific customer? They don’t hold inventory.

RE: They don’t hold inventory.

In that case they probably shouldn't be using inventory items. You can assemble other types of items, if that feature is useful.
