Join nowI have been trying to back up my data it is gets stuck at 98% and never finishes.
I have not had any issues with backing up locally until now.
What is going on?
I don't back up online, and I back up to a local drive.
Nothing is broken with this drive and other programs access it without any issues.
Why has the local back up feature started to fail? I can't find any help on this.
I don't have Intuit Data protect and I don't use back-up to a cloud of any type.
Try these steps:
1. Run the Verify/Rebuil Data tool. If it didn't notify any error message, retry the backup process.
2. If the backup process is failed, run the toolhub to find and fix any damage in your file. Then try the backup process again.
I verified Data.
No errors found.
So I rebuilt: It said this:

Thanks for providing details of your concern, @dpipeep.
I've got additional steps to keep you going.
Since doing the verify and rebuild won't fix the issue, you can run the QuickBooks File Doctor. Doing so helps resolve common company file issues and errors.
First, let's download the QuickBooks Tool Hub. For the best experience, I recommend using it on Windows 10, 64-bit. Once ready, here's how to get started:
Next, run the Quick Fix My File. Here's how:
Then, follow Step 3 to 4 outlined in this article to continue the troubleshooting steps: Fix company file issues.
If the same thing happens, I suggest getting in touch with our support. They can check your account securely and perform more steps to help fix this. See this link for the detailed instructions: Contact Support.
To make sure your issue gets taken care of right away, please check out our support hours: QBDT support hours.
Also, you'll want to update your QuickBooks Desktop to have the latest features and fixes. Please refer to this resource for more details: How to update QuickBooks Desktop.
I'm always around to lend a hand if you need more help with managing your data or anything else related to QuickBooks. Take care and stay safe always.
If you are unable to fix it, contact Intuit Data Service to fix it. Otherwise, you have to purchase a 3rd party file repair service.
