Item Label printing / generation issue

I have a random issue that I am trying to resolve for a customer of mine. My customer manufacturers fiberglass products. Embedded in the fiberglass is a tag with the part number, their own serial number, and date. They use a very old system to print their labels that is having issues and I want to bring it into the multi-user manufacturing edition of QB that they have (I believe it is 2019). Is there a way to generate / print labels for the parts, not have them in inventory initially, and when the product is finished have them be pulled into inventory? To mess with all of this, they do not track in QB things like the fiberglass used, resin, etc...

I'll help make sure you're able to print inventory labels, @apickard.

You can print those items if you've added them into your QuickBooks Desktop account. From here, you'll need to manually open each item and print the details you need. Here's how:

  1. Go to Lists menu at the top and select Item List
  2. Double-click the item to open it.
  3. On the Type drop-down, select Inventory Assembly
  4. Make sure the details are correct, then click Print
  5. On the Print Lists window, click Preview
  6. On the Print Preview page, choose Print. You can see the part number and the description of the item.

For more information about QuickBooks items, you can visit this helpful article: Add, Edit, and Delete Items. If you want to learn more about customization of item reports, here's an article you can refer to: Customize Item Reports

Let me know on this thread if you have other concerns for any follow-up question in printing the label. I'm always here to help.

Item Label printing / generation issue

I have installed a Dymo Labelwriter 450. QB sees the printer in inventory tag printing. However, I can not see the template that was created in QB Tools. What am I missing??

Good evening, @thesbox

Thanks for following the thread. I'm happy to lend a hand with your template.

Before we begin, do you mind clarifying what you mean by QB Tools? I want to make sure I have a clear understanding of this before we get started.

In the meantime, have you ran the PDF Print Repair tool? This tool is a great resource when you're having trouble with printing, errors, components, etc. If you haven't already, please download and run the tool while I await your response.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. I look forward to your reply. You can reach out to the Community at any time. Take care and chat with you soon!

In the Quick Books Point of Sale -File-Tools-Print Designer-Inventory Tags-

I designed an general inventory tag and a jeelry tag. Saved both. Test tags print.

Then when I go to Inventory to print a tag I only have Avery template options.

I don't see the PDF Print Repair Tool.

Thank you,

Thanks for getting back to us here in the Community, @thesbox.

I'm here to make sure you're able to choose the printing option you want and repair any possible minor data issues with your company file. This way, you can print the item label accordingly in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Point of Sale (POS).

When you've already downloaded and installed the QuickBooks Tool Hub but still unable to see the PDF Print Repair Tool, your company file may have minor data issues. Don't worry because this can easily be repaired using the Rebuild and Verify Data tool. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to the File menu, select Utilities, and then choose Rebuild Data.
  2. On the QuickBooks Information window, select OK.
  3. Follow the onscreen steps to save a backup.
  4. Let the tool repair your file. It may take some time. QuickBooks may seem stuck, but as long as you can move your mouse, the tool is working.
  5. When the tool finishes, select OK.
  6. Go to the File menu, select Utilities, and then choose Verify Data.
  7. Let the tool check your file for data issues.

In case the issue continues, you may perform other solutions provided in this article starting Solution 2Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Also, QuickBooks offers a wide variety of ready-made item reports to help you keep track of your inventory. To know more about this, you can check out this article: Item reports in QuickBooks Desktop. It includes topics about items used in build assemblies and inventories to be ordered from vendors. to name a few.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. If you have other printing tag concerns or inquiries about item labels in QuickBooks, I'm just around to help. Take care always.

Item Label printing / generation issue

I have performed the Rebuild Tool and still having the issue.

The steps I took to create the templates in Quickbooks was;

File-Tools-Print Design- created 2 Inventory tag Templates......I able to "TEST" print the newly created tags in Print Design.

Then when I go into the Inventory list-select Print Tags- the Created Templates are not an option. Mt tag printer is there but only Avery templates.

Thanks for your help
