A lot of my jobs are all of a sudden appearing under different customers than originally set up... is there a way to fix that? I know I can go in and change it back which I have done for some, but when there are payments made its not so easy! Also, what would cause that?!

Hi there, @weaversys.

QuickBooks Desktop doesn't have the option to automatically add jobs to specific customers. 

 

It's possible that someone who has access to your company file added them manually. I'd suggest getting in touch with them to determine the cause of the issue. 

 

At the moment, you'll have to manually edit each job and unlink it to your customers. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Customers menu and select Customer Center.
  2. Click the job name to open its window.
  3. Select the pencil icon in the upper-right section of the screen. This will open the Edit Job window.
  4. In the CUSTOMER drop-down list, clear the name of the customer. Simply highlight the whole text and press Delete or Backspace.
  5. Click OK

Hi,

Thanks for replying. They were added manually but now they are showing up under different customers... I was able to move some of the estimates etc. but I am not able to move invoices that have payments applied without deleting the payment and going back in... just a lot of work for something that shouldn't have been moved in the first place.

Thanks for getting back to us,weaversys. Yes, you're right. 

 

You'll need to delete the payments associated with that invoice before moving them to other customers in QuickBooks Online.
