Layout Designer constantly quits when trying to change templates for estimates and invoices

I can no longer edit templates in Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2016. The Layout Designer quits every time. When I googled it, several people said the same thing and it all happened tonight. One person bought the new version and still had the problem. Tech support told him he had a corrupt company file. I find it odd that three people on the same day all of a sudden have a corrupt company file. It sounds more like a glitch with the latest update. Any suggestions? I'd rather not have to rebuild my whole company file.

Try QuickBooks->Check For Updates and apply any updates available. I think this has been corrected but let us know if that doesn't work.

An escalation has been made for this issue, CalB.

 

You're right. Other users have reported the same issue when editing templates in QuickBooks for Mac. Our engineers are now gathering more information to know what triggered the behavior in the program.

 

While a workaround is not available yet, please give us a call. We will put your name and email address on the affected users' list. This way, you'll be notified when we release a permanent resolution.

 

Here's how to get our contact number:

  1. Go to this link https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  3. Click the Using QuickBooks for Mac topic.
  4. Scroll down and click the Get Phone Number button.

We are aware of this happening in QuickBooks Mac 2016 and 2019.  If it is happening to you in an older version please let me know here.

 

We hope to have an update very soon that will show up when you run QuickBooks->Check For Updates.

I am having the same issue which is causing us to continue to use our old branding because layout designer won;t let us update our invoices with the new logos. Need this fixed soon please!

I'm having the same problem. How can something so simple as customizing an invoice have so many problems? I have a customer that needs this invoice now and it's not even available to customize. Starting to look for other bookkeeping software. Quickbooks is the worst.

QUickbooks had to make a new update to fix the problem, which is now all taken care of.
