Layout Designer

I am trying to use Layout Designer to widen the columns on a couple of my templates.

It seems to limit the width severely, which is annoying.

For example, some of my prices don't fit in the "rate" column on my invoices, so I have to manually resize the column on each invoice. Is there a way to fix this?

Also, the Layout Designer in general seems quite buggy. Can we expect an upgrade soon?

Layout Designer

In Layout Designer with the form template open, click on the table (the table is made up of columns for item/description/quantity/rate/amount etc). When you click on the table it will be selected - you'll see little white squares appear in the corners and edges for resizing the table.  But you want to resize the column so move your mouse over the column dividers and you'll see the cursor change into a little line with two arrow heads on each side.  Click when you see that and you can widen or shrink any column.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, byomtov.

When using Layout Designer, you'll be able to select anything and drag it to make the object bigger or smaller.

I've included a helpful video that explains how it's used:

You can find more information about customizing forms in our Customize form templates article.

I understand there may be some limitations in how far a column's width can be dragged and have submitted feedback to our Product Development Team about this. You also have the ability to submit a product suggestion.

Here's how:
1. Go to Help, Send Feedback Online, then Product Suggestion....
2. Choose a Type of Feedback and Product Area (optional) from the available drop-down menus.3. Enter any suggestions/feedback in your Here is my suggestion: field.
4. If you'd like, include your name/email in the My name is: (optional) and My e-mail address is: (optional) fields.
5. Select Send Feedback.

Your feedback is definitely valuable to Intuit. It goes directly to our Product Development Team and can help improve user experiences in the software.

Currently, there's no planned update that's been publicized.

Available updates can be checked for and obtained while signed in to your books:
1. From the QuickBooks ▼ drop-down menu, click Check for QuickBooks Updates.
2. If a newer version's obtainable, hit Install Update.
3. Once prompted, press Install and Relaunch. When your update is complete, QuickBooks will automatically reopen.

Additionally, you can keep an eye on our QuickBooks Blog to stay up-to-date with the latest news.

I'll be here to help if there's any other questions. Have a great Friday!
