Locations

I've been using Locations for a few years.  I want to switch to Classes, which will allow me to split a payment between Classes, which I can't do with Locations (1 Location per transaction).  I want to preserve my Locations information for prior years Financial reporting.  If I turn Locations off is my Locations data preserved or is it lost.  In other words, if I turn off Locations, then turn Locations back on to run prior year Financial reports will I still be able to run reports by Location?

You're absolutely correct, @BWDudley!

I'll be glad to share a little more information about Location tracking in QuickBooks.

When you turn off Location tracking, only the option to filter your financial reports with locations will be removed.

Thus, when you turn it on again and run prior financial reports, your data will be restored and you can still see it.

Fill me in if you have any other questions. It'll always be my pleasure to help.

Locations

When turning on "locations" in qbo is there any way to take ALL the "not specified" entries and place them under one of the "locations" created.   Example:  Current company running all year without "location".  Want to create two locations.  One for current entries and one for some new entries.  How can I get all the current entries under one of the new locations created.

Thanks

Locations

Hello there, scarn,

You can add the location to previously created entries. However, you'll need to add the location per entry.

If you've already added the locations, follow these steps below to add them to your transactions:

  1. Open your Transaction.
  2. From the Location drop-down, choose your desired location.
  3. Click  Save and Close.

For more information, you can read this article: Set up and use class and location tracking.

I'm always here if you have additional questions.

So there is no global way of doing this.   There are hundreds of transactions that would need to be changed.  Not sure that is possible.  Thanks

Locations

Yes, scarn. The option to change and add a location by batch or bulk is unavailable.

I'll personally send this as feedback to our Product Development Team. This way, you'll have an easy way to categorize locations to multiple transactions.

If you have further questions, please let me know. You can always leave your reply below or post again.
