The last week the program crashes and a crash report email appears.

I also seem to loose invoices that have been created.

Hi there @Aquakleen,

Let's check several things to find out and fix the crashing of your QuickBooks Mac.

Firstly, I would suggest to check the system requirements if it qualifies. Please check this article: QuickBooks Desktop system requirements

Next, after the system is checked, let's update your QuickBooks:

Here's how:

  1. QuickBooks
  2. Check for QuickBooks Updates
  3. Follow on screen prompts to install

If the crashing still persist, please verify the integrity of your Company file.

  1. File > Utilities > Verify Data
  2. If a problem is detected
    1. File > Utilities > Rebuild Data
    2. Run the verify from step 1 one more time
    3. If it still fails restore a backup or contact support.

Once the steps above is followed, please reboot your computer. This will now keep you going.

Drop me a comment for further questions.

Only a transaction in progress at the time of the crash could be lost.

Hi

Sorry for the late response but I've tried all this plus spent over 1 hour waiting for and speaking with a quickbooks consultant and still no answer.

Ive rebuilt data and also installed a back up file.

Im getting really sick of this as the programme crashes every time I use it and even Quickbooks don't have an answer for me.

Seriously considering leaving them.

I have more steps we can try, Aquakleen.

Let's check to see if this isn't a conflict between QuickBooks and something installed on your computer.

To check, let's open your QuickBooks in Safe Boot:

  1. Shut down the computer
  2. Press the Power button, then immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see your Desktop.
  3. Open QuickBooks and perform the same task you were trying to complete before the Crash Catcher appeared.

Another workaround is to add a new Mac OS user. Here's how:

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Click the Users & Groups icon.
  3. Click the "+" button to add a new user with Administrator permissions.

Let us know how it works for you. We're always here to help.

Hi

When I go in safe mode or log on with another user quickbooks and other apps aren't shown on the desktop as they have not been downloaded under that user.

Hi there, Aquakleen,

I appreciate you reaching back to us and validating the results.

To further isolate the issue, this time we can restore some backup. To check the location where QuickBooks for Mac stored the backup, here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Go to QuickBooks.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Choose Backup.

However, if the backup is not on specific folder, you can go to spotlight (Magnifying glass icon) and search for files with .dmg extension.

For more detailed steps on how to restore a backup in QuickBooks for Mac, here's a great resource that you can check: Restore a backup (.dmg) in QuickBooks Mac.

Keep me posted on how things go. I'll be happy to help you out. Have a great day!
