Migrating QB, Inactive Jobs made Active because of billable costs, even though no costs were assigned billable... help!

Migrating from Desktop to Online and now have 1,000+ inactive jobs made active, with 10,000+ costs to bill out. No costs or expenses were assigned billable status, but on migration, the jobs now have costs to be billed out.  Is there a fix for this? Does data have to be 'cleaned' in the desktop version or is there a quick way to make jobs inactive again in the Online version?

Migrating QB, Inactive Jobs made Active because of billable costs, even though no costs were assigned billable... help!

Good day, @honk59.

When you convert your QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online the customers and jobs won't include as long as the Inactive status remains and there are no unbilled charges imported. To fix this, you can remove these unbilled charges all at once. Let me guide you on how.

  1. Click this link https://qbo.intuit.com/app/managebillableexpense.
  2. Log in using your QuickBooks Online username and password.
  3. Enter the date you converted your company file.
  4. Click the Save button.

Once completed, the system will hide any unbilled expenses created before the date you entered and mark them as Closed. You can read through this article for more step-by-step instructions: How to remove a billable expense charge.

If you encounter any error message upon deleting customers with unbilled charges, just refer to this article on how to fix them: Delete customers with unbilled charges.

In case you want to reimport your data again, you can visit this article for further guidance. It also contains a video tutorial for visual reference: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Also, you can check this article to know more information about the data that doesn't convert when you migrate your company file:

If you need further assistance with the process or the job still shows active, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. You reach out to them by checking out this article: Contact QuickBooks products and services Support. Choose QBDT if you wish to contact them from your QBDT software, or QBO.

Once you successfully move your data, check out our Getting Started and Help Articles page for other resources on how to handle your QBO account.

I’ll be around if you need further help converting your file to QBO. I’d be more than happy to work with you. Have a great day ahead.
