Moving several transactions to a different account

I am using QB Desktop Pro 2019.  For this client, we currently are NOT using bank feeds.  I am going back to 2018 to update and correct some problems.  One of them is an auto loan payment that was originally classified to the Ask the Accountant account.

I have created the necessary Fixed Asset, Loan, and Interest accounts and need to move the payments that were all made by automatic electronic check from the Ask The Accountant Account to the specific loan account.  Is there a way to do a mass move or does each entry have to be done one at a time?

Thanks

EJ

The changes you are going to make certainly will have an effect on 2018 taxes which, if filed, could be amended.

You could enter a single or series of journal entries to change the allocation of costs or you can go into each transaction and manually edit.

Moving several transactions to a different account

Hi there, @GolfNut72

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. We can manually import transactions from CSV file format. This way, you don't need to move the data one at time.

Some importing files has there own set of format. We need to make ensure we verify this requirements to prevent any error issues when importing your CSV data. Let me guide you through on how to accomplish this:

  1. Go to File, select Utilities, and Import. Then choose Excel files
  2. Select a list.
  3. Customize columns to display.
  4. Paste from Excel or add or modify your list.
  5. Click Save changes once done modify.

If you were using the Accountant's version you would be able to reclass all the transactions at once.  This feature is not available in the Pro version.
