Multi step process of Accepting PrePayment and showing open credit


In my business, I send an invoice for a certain amount of hours the client must pay before I start working.  


I create an invoice 2x/month for hours work and debit it against the credit amount. 


In QBDesktop you could easily use the open credit an apply the invoice to it, and the invoice would show available credit amount available to client (or if they exceeded the amount owed).


Can someone break it down for QBL.


1)Invoicing Client for prepayment of service hours ($575)


2)how do I record (receive) the CC payment in QBL (which account??)


3) how do I record when an hour of time is used so available credit is showing on invoice?
