multiple users on different networks

My business partners and myself are all in different locations. I was wondering if anyone is able to operate quickbooks with multiple users on different networks without switching to QB online. I'm new to IT and we don't have a large budget. I have an NAS for data storage... not sure if that will help in anyway.

We have just been saving the file and emailing it to each other when we need to enter information to quickbooks. Would like to be more efficient.

We have already invested in desktop and are comfortable with operating it and would prefer to not transition to online, though if what I want can't be done, then i guess online it is...

Would love some suggestions!

Thanks!!

Steve

Glad to have you here, Steve.

Yes, although not recommended. You can store the file on a server or NAS drive using Alternate Setup Method. QuickBooks can be hosted in both local and remote files mode.

A computer in Hosting Local & Remote files mode can support multi-user mode, using TCP/IP to communicate with QuickBooks Dekstop. Users on remote computers can access the company file using a database server.

Please see these articles about setting up QuickBooks on servers for more details:
