My contractor did not receive their 1099 email. How do I resend or verify was sent?

On my QB it shows was sent but they confirm have not received. Have already double checked contractor info on my end.

I'm here to ensure and track your contractor's 1099 forms, @Tennis11.

Your vendors or contractors won't receive an email of the file 1099 forms not until a week after it's filed. You'll want to check the status of your 1099 form in your QuickBooks Online account. I'll show you how.

  1. Proceed to the Taxes menu.
  2. Choose 1099 fillings.
  3. View the status of the e-filing under Filing status. You can check below the meaning of each status:

  • Not Submitted: Haven't e-file the 1099s with the IRS.
  • Submitted: You have e-filed with the IRS.
  • Received by IRS: IRS has received the information. They are either processing it, or it has already been approved.

If you're unable to trace the mailed 1099 forms, you'll want to invite your contractor/vendor to view the digital copies of the form. You can step by step instructions in this article: Invite a contractor to add their own tax info.

I'm also sharing these links to learn more about the 1099 form and to check your other year end task:

Ping me if you have clarification or additional questions about managing 1099 and other forms in QuickBooks Online. I'll be around. Take care!

My contractor did not receive their 1099 email. How do I resend or verify was sent?

Are the Not Submitted/Submitted/Received by the IRS status messages now outdated?

Under the Status field I am seeing "Sent" and "InAgency." Does Sent correspond to Submitted and InAgency correspond to Received by the IRS?

My contractor did not receive their 1099 email. How do I resend or verify was sent?

Hello there, @AnonymousTaxPro. Let me share some clarifications about your query.

When you send your 1099 form to the IRS, QuickBooks Online (QBO) will keep track of this and notify you about the progress of your filling. The statuses you've mentioned are still used and helps with indicating whether the IRS has received your form or if it's still pending.

To address your second question, the Sent and InAgency status is used when IRS have received your form. Sent indicates that the form is in the process of approval, while InAgency means it has been successfully received and accepted by the IRS.

Furthermore, you may also want to learn more about the year-end checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Just keep us posted if you have further question regarding the statuses when filling your payroll forms in QBO. We're here to assist you.
