Welcome to QuickBooks Community, Toromeatco.

Currently, adding a specific column for your item line is unavailable. Though, you can add the Description and change the column name in the invoice template.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Under Your Company, click Custom Form Styles.
  3. Click the Edit link of the invoice template you are using.
  4. Click the Content tab, and select the Activity part of the invoice template.
  5. On the left panel, check the Description box, and click the Edit Labels and Widths link.
  6. Change the Description name.
  7. Click Done.

I'd also recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team about this column request. To do that, click the Gear icon, and select Feedback.

If you have any other questions about QuickBooks, feel free to reach out to us at any time. Thanks.

We sent feed back but have not got a response.  We need all columns we have right now.  We bill everything by weight and price.  We used to just type in the case count in a field in the older version.  We spent a lot changing to this online version and have been disappointed by the lack of options in editing the invoices.  What version of quickbooks is this from.  One of our customers sent us this and said it was Quickbooks online but I think they were incorrect.  We used to have a column for the case count but the grey line will work for us if there is no choice.IMG_2739.jpeg

Hi @toromeatco,

Currently, you can only include your items' quantities and rates to your invoices. Let me provide some details about this and help you further.

You can add the case count to your invoices by entering the unit of measure for your items.

The Unit of Measure allows you to add a specific measurement of your items. This also makes it easier for you to create your invoices due to the specific measurement available.

The Unit of Measure feature is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO) but is available on the desktop version.

Also, the invoice you've provided is not specifically from QuickBooks. However, some fields are similar to the fields available in QBO. These fields include Quantity, Description, Rate and Amount.

Please let me know if you have any other concerns. I'll be happy to help you.

When will unit of measure be added to Quickbooks online?  This is a feature we currently need.  We are struggling with the new format since the upgrade.

Thank you

Hi toromeatco,

For now, you can use the Description box to add the unit of measure for your invoices. We'll keep you posted for any updates regarding this feature.

I'll also send this feature request to our Product Development Team.

Should you have other questions or concerns about QuickBooks, feel free to leave a comment or post a new question. Thanks.
