Notes within QBO

I have a new client that is a builder and requires a lot of detail---not just by category and class. He needs to be able to make notes about transactions before they are downloaded into the system via the bank. Right now we are using the attachment option, he's making notes and attaching a receipt etc. The receipt option asks too many questions. We only want to make notes and that's it. It can't be tied to a transaction as he needs to make note at time of purchase/deposit. Is there a way in QBO to just make notes via the app? If not what other app do you recommend, or is there one that syncs w/QBO. I have attached what we are doing now, but we do not want to attach anything---just notes.
