Payroll Updates

I recently updated my QB to 2019, but I no longer require payroll at all--no employees.  Everytime I open QB it wants me to update payroll.  Is there someway to by pass this annoying message?

You need to cancel your payroll subscription.

As mentioned by QBsguru, you can cancel your payroll subscription if you no longer have employees. You're only prompted to run the update if we've released one and/or your payroll is outdated.


You can cancel it within your QuickBooks. I'll show you how:

  1. On the top menu, click Employees.
  2. Choose My Payroll Service and Account/Billing Info.
  3. Sign in using your Intuit Account login.
  4. Once the Account Maintenance page opens, go to the Service Information section.
  5. Click Cancel.
  6. Proceed with the process to cancel your payroll service.
