Price Rules

We have price rules in place.  When I do a credit for a particular customer with a price rule, it does not come out with the correct price.  Am I missing something?

Price Rules

Hi there, LauraM4.

Currently, the price rule is only apply for Estimates, Invoice Sales Order and, Sales receipt of the customer.

I suggest manually enter the price rule or the price change under the credit transaction with associated items.

If you want to use the price rule in the estimate and invoices or other sales transaction, I suggest creating conditions for the rule first. To do this, you'll need to edit the price rule you created. Then, make sure to have an item associated with it.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Lists menu.
  2. Select the Price Rule List.
  3. Choose the price rule you've created and right click it to select Edit price rule.
  4. From the conditions field, select the + button to add a condition.
  5. Choose the first drop-down arrow and select whether the condition applies to Item, Customers, Class, or Sales Reps.
  6. Select the next drop-down arrow and select from the available choices, which vary depending on the type of condition you're creating.
  7. Set the price. In the field, enter a percent or an amount to adjust the price. Then, choose the drop-down arrows to finish setting the price.

Price Rules

This does not solve my problem.  I have the customer set up on the price rule but it only works for invoices not credits.  The credit gives retail amount for any credits.  Not sure how else to set it up so it would give the same price we charged when giving a credit (most customers have a price rule with override prices)

Price Rules

Hello there, @LauraM4.

You can create a price level for each customer so the prices are automatically adjusted when you create the invoice to a particular customer.

Here's how:

  1. Create the Fixed Price Level.
  2. Go to List.
  3. Choose the Price Level List.
  4. Select New in the Price Level drop-down.
  5. Enter the name of the Price Level.
  6. Under Price Level Type, choose Fixed %.
  7. Complete the Price Level information.
  8. Click OK.

Once done, you'll have to set it up for your customers. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Click Customer.
  2. Choose Customer Care.
  3. Select the Customer you want to assign.
  4. Go to Payment Setting.
  5. In the Price Level drop-down, choose the discount you want to apply to the customer.
  6. Click Ok.

You can also refer to the article about Advanced Pricing which is also previously shared above.

Feel free to let me know in the comment section below if you have any other questions. I'll be around to help. Have a great day ahead.

Price Rules

I setup price rules for the first time today.  It is working in sales orders and invoices but not working in estimates.  Is there a preference that must be changed to get estimates to start working?

Thank you

Price Rules

Price rules are automatically to all sales transactions including estimates, Chad.

Let's try a few steps that can resolve unexpected results when working in QuickBooks Desktop.

Start by making sure that your QuickBooks is on the latest maintenance release. Regularly updating the software installs and apply fixes to minor software issues. Use this article as a guide: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Once done, create another estimate to check if the price rule is already working. Just in case you can still see that the rule is not applying to the estimate, let's proceed to repairing the software. Here's an article to guide you through: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
