PRint issues

I am having a problem when I print a single check.  Two or more checks print fine but a single the alignment on a single check is off.  Any suggestions on how I can find and fix this problem?

Re: PRint issues

Hello, Sheilac12,

I'm here to help check and ensure that you'd able to print a single check.

In QuickBooks Desktop, upon printing a single check, you'll be prompted to enter a printed check number.

To help you fix most printing issues, you can download and run the QuickBooks Print and PDF Repair Tool.

Please also make sure that you're using the updated version released for QuickBooks Desktop.

Once verified, to print a single check, follow these steps:

  1. Load your checks into the printer.
  2. Open the Print Checks window.
  3. Click the style you're printing in the Check Style section.
  4. In the Checks on 1st Page section, type 1. (For Standard  or wallet  checks only).
  5. Click the Partial Page tab, choose the orientation for your check, then put your check into the printer the same way you feed in an envelope. (For Standard  or wallet  checks only).
  6. Click Print.

In addition, I'll be adding an article you can read to learn more about resolving your printing issues:

However, if the problem persists, I recommend getting in touch with our Support Team to check an investigate this further securely.

Keep me posted on how it works. I want to ensure that you'd able to print your checks in QuickBooks Desktop.

Re: PRint issues

I have followed the Re:Check Printing tool  but I'm still not getting a single check to print.  The Alignment is about half off .  It does not print the name or the amount on the check in the pay To the Order of:  and the numerical amount and date is printed in the middle face of the check.

Re: PRint issues

Thanks for getting back to us, Sheilac12.

Let me help you go over to your checks and have those alignment fixed.

There are multiple possible reasons why the check alignment is off. It could be that:

  • The Printer Setup window can be opening off-screen.
  • The Intuit internal printer is selected as the default printer.
  • The Qbprint.qbp file is damaged.
  • A QuickBooks application file is missing or damaged.

To fix this, let's try to check your printing settings. See the steps below.

  1. Click File at the top menu bar and choose Printer Setup
  2. Choose Check/Pay Check.
  3. Click the Align button.
  4. Adjust the alignment and hit Print Sample.

If the alignment is still off, let's rename the QBprint.qbp file.

Here's how:

  1. Locate the QBPrint.qbp.
Quick tip: You might need to Display hidden files and folders or search for files using Windows to find these files in Windows.
    • Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and Vista: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX
Note: 20XX represents the version of your QuickBooks
    • Server 2008 and Server 2012: C:\Program Data\Intuit\QuickBooks year and C:\Users\**remote user**\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\ YEAR VERSION\TSPrinterSettings
Note: Terminal Service users report finding duplicate copies of the Qbprint.qbp file with the stored client data files; double check all folders for odd instances.
  2. Right-click QBprint.qbp file for your QuickBooks version and select Rename.
  3. Add the word old to the file name (i.e. QBPrint.qbp.old)
  4. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  5. From the File menu, select Printer Setup.
  6. Select any transaction in the Form Name list and select OK. This will create a newQBprint.qbp file.
Note: You do not have to do this for every transaction.
  7. Try to open and print any transaction.
