Problems after moving Quickbooks Destop 2019 from one computer to another

I just recently moved Quickbooks Desktop 2019 to a new computer. I copied all the files manually following a guide on here, because we use it in multi user mode.

Everything appears to work correctly on the new computer but now the file can not be accessed  by the other workstation while the server has it opened. I have multi user access enabled and turned on.

I receive Error Codes: (-6190,-816).

I have renamed the .ND and .TLG files to get fresh ones.

I have scanned the file with the Database Server Manager.

If I close it on the server, the other workstation can open it, but not at the same time.

Even though multi user access is enabled and turned on, it appears to not be working.

I plan to try and disable and then re-enable multi user access when I get a chance. Since I moved the files manually I never had to enable it, it was already done once it opened the file on the new computer.

If anyone has any other ideas, I would greatly appreciate it.

Problems after moving Quickbooks Destop 2019 from one computer to another

Hi there, @bcgoimec.

I appreciate your efforts in performing some troubleshooting steps to get this resolved and providing the error code that you're getting. Allow me to provide additional information to get this resolved.

Error code -6190, 816, means that another user is logged in to the company file in single-user mode. It can also be a mismatch between the transaction log file (.tlg) and the company file (.qbw). To get this fixed make sure to have one PC/Server to host the company files. Here's how:

  1. Press F2. The Product Information window opens.
  2. Find Local Server Information. Hosting should be turned off.

Once done, try to rename the.ND and.TLG files and run the Database Server Manager from the QuickBooks Tools Hub again. This will allow QuickBooks to access a company file in a network or multi-user environment.

You can also, open a sample company file locally installed on a workstation. This way, you can test if the problem is within your company file or the QuickBooks application. If a sample company file does not open and instead returns an error, it is an indication that the QuickBooks installation is damaged and should be repaired.

  1. In the No Company Open window, select Open a Sample File, then choose from the list of sample company files.
  2. If the sample file opens, proceed to solution 4. If the sample file returns the same error message, repair your QuickBooks installation.

Thank you for your response.

I was trying some of the things you had posted when I realized the new computer had a trial version of McAfee that had the firewall turned on and that is what was preventing the file from being opened on the workstation.
